What NOT to do prior to starting your conversion to Xero:
- Do not start a Xero Organisation unless you are a Xero Partner with approval from Xero to convert into Existing Xero Organisations. If you have already started a Xero subscription and should not have click here for instruction on how to proceed. IMPORTANT NOTE: We cannot convert to a trial version of Xero.
- DO NOT ROLL YOUR FILE. If you have already rolled your MYOB file DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ROLL BACK AGAIN. (Desktop only)

ATTENTION: Please note if the Essential File Preparation is not completed prior to starting a reconversion charge may apply. If you are not comfortable processing the above steps we have approved trainers who regularly process conversion and can handle this process for you.

Ensure MYOB is set to the correct GST accounting basis (cash or accrual) in the file supplied
Desktop: Go to Set up > company information > BAS information Online : Company Name > Report Settings > Accounting Method & GST Reporting Method (need to be the same)
*WARNING: Some banks require credit cards to be set up as bank accounts in Xero in order to connect bank feeds.

- Reconcile Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable - review the AR/AP detailed reports and ensure all invoices/bills and credit notes are current. Apply all credit notes unless current.
- Ensure that Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and GST accounts do not have Account type as Bank Account.
- For NZ clients - we need your GST/IR number to convert the file.
- If you have used Undeposited Funds for Sales ensure the source file and mapping are set up as a Bank - To ensure this links to the contact history.
- Online Versions: Once you have started a conversion please stop working in the source file. Anything added to the file after this point can not be guaranteed to be included.
OPTIONAL File Preparation:
- Check that the balances in all reconciled bank accounts and credit cards match the bank statements as of the last reconciliation date.
- Confirm that the Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable reconciliation report balance matches the balance in the General Ledger.
- Check how non-standard tax codes are treated.
- Ensure all clearing accounts are reconciled to NIL.
- Ensure all bank transactions you want converted are coded.
- Run a verification of the MYOB file (File > Verify Company File). If errors occur, we can fix these for you under our Accelerate Package.
- Check that all employees have an accurate USI/SPIN
- Pay Superannuation to date through the MYOB file (if applicable)

The conversion will take up to 3 business days for desktop files and up to 5 busines days for online files from when you have:
- Selected your conversion service
- Provided us with access to the online file (onine conversions only)
- Advised as to how you want the bank accounts to be treated in Xero (premium packages only). *
